Additional Residency Opportunities
We have partnered with the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) to provide a two-year optometry residency in ocular disease and neuro-ophthalmic disorders.
The first year of training is spent exclusively at the Illinois Eye Institute (IEI) and builds a strong foundation in primary care and ocular disease management, including retina, glaucoma, and urgent care. Additional rotations in pediatrics, cornea/contact lens, and low vision are available.
The second year of training focuses on neuro-ophthalmic disease and is split between the Illinois Eye Institute and the University of Chicago Medical Center. At the Illinois Eye Institute, residents precept students in urgent care and neuro-ophthalmic disorder clinics and courses. At the University of Chicago Medical Center, they rotate through specialty clinics such as consults/urgent care, neuro-ophthalmology, oculoplastics/orbit, neurology, and neuroradiology.
